Mary E. "Betty" Collings, 72, a 39-year Carson City resident, died Aug. 12, 2006, at her home.
Mrs. Collings was born July 12, 1934, in Fairbury, Neb., to Wayne Bishop and Dorothy Pryor.
Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Collings lived in Reno.
She attended Yuba College in Marysville, Calif., and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a bachelor's degree in biology.
She was a medical technologist and had worked at Carson Tahoe Hospital. She was involved in holistic healing for the past 25 years.
She enjoyed researching and studying religions, including Christianity, the Rosicrucian Order and eastern religions. She volunteered with RSVP's home companion program.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Hussey; second husband David Collings in 1987; and son Chuck in 2002.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Brenda Collings of Carson City; daughter Cathy Collings of Grass Valley, Calif.; brothers John Bishop of Utah and Bill Bishop of Wheatland, Calif.;, and three grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
