(Nevada Appeal News Service) - A 41-year-old Carson City man died Monday afternoon when he fell about 30 feet off a roof of a two-story residence on North Bowl Lane off Kingsbury Grade, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was attempting to avoid building material sliding from the roof, said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.
The man was unconscious but breathing but died before paramedics could take him to a waiting helicopter for transport, Mezzetta said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted, Mezzetta said.
The man was working for AAA Roofing. The company could not be reached for comment.

Bicyclist hit by truck
(Staff report) - A 13-year-old boy was critically injured after a pickup drifted into the bike lane and collided with the bicycle the youth was riding.
The accident occurred at 7:25 p.m. Monday about one mile west of Fallon on Highway 50, officials said.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials said Richard G. Gutchings, 51, of Fallon, was driving his 2005 GMC pickup and towing a horse trailer westbound on Highway 50, became distracted and his vehicle drifted into the bicycle's path. The right front of the pickup struck the rear of the bicycle, ejecting the bicyclist.
The boy, whose name was not released, was take by Care Flight to Washoe Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
