A bicycle distribution company relocating from California will lease 30,000 square feet in North Carson City for a new center.
Veltec Sports distributes bikes and other cycling products nationwide. The company will move from its Monterey distribution center, bringing about 40 percent of its employees to Carson City, according to Jack Brower, of Sperry Van Ness in Carson City.
Veltec will occupy a 30,000-square-foot building on 1.83 acres at 5070 Sigstrom Drive.
"I think it's a combination of the cost of real estate at a reasonable price here and the quality of life," Brower said about the move. "They're bring 15-20 people here from California."
Brower, who represented Veltec, and Bruce Robertson, an adviser with Sperry Van Ness who represented the landlord, closed the deal in June. The land and building is owned by the Clarence Menteer Trust, according to assessor records.
The new distribution center is expected to be operational by November. Brower said this is the company's only distribution center in the U.S. It could hire up to 10 more employees here.
"Working with new businesses that are moving and expanding to Nevada is an honor," Brower said in a news release. "By representing both Nevada property owners and new companies, I can make sure that each are a perfect fit for each other and that the pair will bring successful business and job growth to Northern Nevada."
