Convention and Visitors Bureau meets


The Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the conference room at 1900 S. Carson St.


Items scheduled include an update on the V&T Railway reconstruction project, and possible termination of the agreement between the V&T Railway Commission and the visitors bureau regarding the $4 million V&T bond funds and Nevada Department of Transportation. payment.




Open Space Advisory Committee to meet


The Open Space Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. today in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Items on the agenda include making recommendations to the Board of Supervisors about future city needs in management of federal land, and whether to allocate up to $50,000 for an equestrian overpass above the freeway to southeast section of Prison Hill.




Carson City Roadrunners to hold monthly camp-out


The Carson City Roadrunner RV Club will hold its monthly camp-out Tuesday through Friday at the Iron Mountain Sno-Park off of Highway 88, 62 miles south of Carson City. The public is welcome. Call 265-3828.


Social dance classes designed to burn calories


Dr. Thane Cornell will be holding social dance aerobics classes from 10:30-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday at the South Carson World Gym.


Classes are $4 for gym members and $5 for non-members. A special program includes eight classes and costs $24 for gym members and $32 for non-members. The senior special for those aged 60 and over also includes eight classes and is $12 for gym members and $16 for nonmembers.

Douglas County


'Support Our Seniors' committee to meet


The Support Our Seniors political action committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Library in Minden.


They are discussing Question Two, which provides for a one-quarter percent sales tax increase to build and operate a new senior center in Douglas County.


Residuals from this tax will be used to support county parks, recreation areas, libraries and agricultural land conservation.

Audubon Society plans guided tour


There will be a guided tour of Swan Lake, a nationally recognized bird-watching area, at 6 p.m. tonight. This tour will explore the newly extended boardwalk. Call 828-6642. Swan Lake is in northern Washoe County near the Nevada-Oregon border.
