"That was really, really impressive," Carson coach Terry Gingell said.

"It was a great day. It was a great start to the season I thought.

"She just played beautiful golf. She's a great athlete. She played exceptionally well.

"It was really a lot of fun to watch. If Lydia can maintain that that will be incredible."

Gingell also said Peri worked hard on her game during the summer and that it paid off in the first tournament of the year.

Also for Carson, Michelle Kop shot a 99, Sarah Metcalf fired a 103, Chelsea Keating had a 106, Melanie Gingell shot a 102 and Taylor Stokes added a 116.

Gingell's 102 was also a personal best for her.

"It's nice to get to play a course the quality of Genoa Lakes," said coach Gingell, who added conditions were generally favorable. "The course was in great shape."

Gingell said he also looks for the rest of his players to lower their scores along with hoping that Peri maintains her level.

"The rest of the girls will definitely improve,"he said.

The next Sierra League tournament will be this Tuesday at Reno's Wild Creek.
