A memorial service for Theodore Pierce Thornton, 78, a 46-year Carson City resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Mr. Thornton died Dec. 4, 2006, at his home. He was born May 9, 1928, in Columbia, Mo., to Roy and Theresa Thornton.
He married Leu Jean Sellin on May 23, 1953, in Los Angeles.
Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Thornton lived in Columbia.
He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He was a business owner and a former Carson City clerk/treasurer and Carson City treasurer.
He belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Lions, the Kit Carson Riding Club, the League of Cities, the Chamber of Commerce, and was an honorary member of Who's Who in Government Services.
He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Thornton.
Among his survivors are his wife, of Carson City; daughters Terry Blaine of Florida and Deborah Pierce of Fair Oaks, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Laurie and Devere Dressler of Gardnerville and Judith and Michael Harris of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maradie Thornton of Dayton; sister Doris Schneider; brothers Dale and Jerry Thornton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous extended-family members.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church School Fund.
