SCHURZ, Nev. (AP) " A tribal police chief and another officer and two residents of a home on the Walker River Paiute Reservation were wounded in a shootout today, authorities said.

The four men, whose injuries were not considered life-threatening, were transported by helicopter to a hospital in Reno, about 100 miles to the north, FBI spokesman David Staretz said. A dog owned by the residents was killed, Staretz added.

FBI agents summoned to the scene were ensuring that nobody else was in the house where the shooting occurred as the officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant, Staretz said. The Nevada Highway Patrol shut off a 30-mile stretch of U.S. 95, which runs past the reservation and at one point is only a few hundred yards from the house.
