Carson City


Make reservations for Natives and Newcomers holiday luncheon


Natives and Newcomers will hold its holiday luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, at the corner of Saliman Road and Highway 50 East. The Children's Bell Choir from Carson Middle School will provide entertainment.


Reservations are due by Dec. 11 - interested persons are welcome to attend.

Senior center plans December dance


The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding a December senior dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the center. The Joe Rossie Band will provide music, and there will be free dance lessons from Thane Cornell from 6-7 p.m. There will also be refreshments and a no-host wine bar. Admission is $6. AARP to hold driving class


The AARP will be holding a Driver Safety Program class from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. There will be a one-hour break for lunch.


This refresher course is intended for older drivers, but drivers of all ages are welcome to attend. Drivers aged 55 and older who complete the course will receive a certificate entitling them to a mandatory insurance premium discount. Call 786-3509 to register.




Children's Museum to hold Kids Camps


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be holding a Kids Camp from 4:30- 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the museum. Kids Camps are designed to give children an evening of fun and allow parents to shop or have some alone time. Cost is $10 per child preregistered or $15 per child at the door. There will be another Kids Camp on Dec. 23 for the same price, at the same times. For information, visit www.cmnn.org.




Junior ski sign-ups this weekend


The Carson City Recreation Division will be holding its 50th annual Junior Ski Program registrations from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Carson City Community Center.


Cost is $225 per participant and equipment is not included. Children from fourth grade (9 years old) to 18 years old are encouraged to participate. Call 887-2290 ext. 100.

Michael's to hold children's craft day; Santa to visit


Michael's Arts and Crafts Store will be holding a KID'S Club from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the store, 911 Topsy Lane. Cost is $4 per child and children will make three gifts and one gift bag.


Santa and his elves will be visiting. Storytime with the elves will be at 11 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Call 267-1938.


Pool celebrates final bond payment


The East Fork Swimming Pool Board will be holding an all-day open house Saturday at the Carson Valley Swim Center, 1600 Highway 88 in Minden, featuring free admission, Santa Claus, a kayaking demonstration, and more, to celebrate the final payment of its 20-year bond. Call 782-8840.
