Mark Krueger, who made an unsuccessful bid for Carson City Justice of the Peace in November, has been appointed as chief deputy district attorney in Lyon County by District Attorney Elect Bob Auer.
Krueger, 37, comes from the Nevada Attorney General's Office. As a senior deputy attorney general, Krueger handled civil, banking, finance, consumer protection, personnel and open meeting law.
"My goal is to make the Lyon County District Attorney's Office the best public law practice in Northern Nevada. Hiring Mark is a big step toward achieving that goal," said Auer in a press release. "I've worked with Mark for the last four years, and I have personally witnessed his work ethic, professionalism, technology expertise and people skills. Mark's experience, energy and enthusiasm will make him a key asset in the District Attorney's Office."
Krueger's wife, Shanna, is a Dayton High School history teacher. She was named the statewide history teacher of the year. The couple has 3-year-old twins.
Krueger lost his bid for Carson City Justice of the Peace to incumbent Robey Willis.
