A memorial service for Nancy Irene Carr-Hamilton, 90, a Yerington resident since 1973, will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Highway 208 in Yerington.

Mrs. Carr-Hamilton died Dec. 8, 2006, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, after an illness.

She was born Aug. 3, 1916, in Colorado, to Cora and Everett McCollum.

She married Chester W. Carr on Nov. 8, 1933.

Before moving to Yerington, Mrs. Carr-Hamilton lived in Silver City and Smith Valley.

She earned her nursing license and spent 22 years at the South Lyon Medical Center.

She served as president of the Nevada Licensed Practical Nurses Association and traveled around the United States representing LPNs. She retired in 1987.

After retirement, she taught childbirth classes, attended Beta Sigma Phi functions, volunteered with the hospital auxiliary and hospice, and attended church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1973, and by her second husband Clayton Hamilton in 2005; by son Marvin Carr; daughter Carol Seal and brother Robert McCollum.

Among her survivors are her daughter-in-law Nancy Carr; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
