Charging head first into the day after Christmas retail fray, Lanaia Lammay and Kristina Cormier, two shoppers from Douglas County, will be prepared with lists and receipts.
Returning and exchanging items Tuesday may become more hectic than shopping for an entire extended family. Lammay and Cormier have a plan: When others are sitting down to Christmas dinner they will be searching advertisements, writing lists of where they want to go, what they want to return and exchange.
They used this strategy for the day-after-Thanksgiving shopping. They've kept it up this past week for last-minute stocking stuffers, such as the annual barbecue lighter and bottles of cologne for their husbands.
Some stores are tougher on returns than others - check it out before you make a needless trip. A few stores are offering low prices.
"Last year I saved $100 on my daughter. I only spent $40," said Cormier.
Lammay, her sister-in-law, will be carrying gift cards and cash from Christmas day.
"I think this year we'll be going for sales, not for returns," she said.
The daring shopping duo will be making Christmas 2007 purchases early Tuesday morning. It's never too early to plan ahead. Retailers are hoping their sales will tempt shoppers.
