Carson City's Jake Rasner was traded from the Texas Rangers to the Chicago White Sox as part of five-player deal on Saturday.

The Rangers got pitcher Brandon McCarthy and outfielder David Paisano. Rasner, a right-handed pitcher, was one of three Rangers pitching prospects sent to the White Sox in the deal. The others were John Danks and Nick Massat.

This past season with low Class A Clinton, Iowa, Rasner went 6-16 with a 5.41 earned run average. In 27 starts he pitched 144.2 innings and had 117 strikeouts.

Rasner, a 2005 Wooster graduate, was taken by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft. He was also named as the Gatorade Nevada Player of the Year in 2005.
