Pioneer Family Dance, potluck planned for New Year


Pioneer Family Dance contra dance will hold its annual New Year's Eve Dance from 8 p.m.-midnight Sunday at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom.


Cost is $15 for adults, $12 in advance at www.nevadamusic.com. Children are $6. Call 883-9351.




Adult day center celebrates one year


Share the Day Adult Day Center will be celebrating its one-year anniversary with an open house and refreshments from 3-5 p.m. today at the center's location in the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Call 284-5505.




Behind-the-scenes tours of state museum today


The Nevada State Museum will be offering behind-the-scenes tours of its natural history and anthropology collections at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. today.


Participants can choose which department tour they would like. Regular admission applies; admission is free for members.

Genoa Bar will be unplugged for New Year's Eve party


The Genoa Bar's annual "New Year's Eve Unplugged" party begins 10 p.m. Sunday, The Genoa Jazz Club will be playing music from Patsy Cline, Nora Jones, Maria Mulduar and more.


The lights go off with live music, oil lamps and candles glowing at the old saloon.


A complimentary champagne toast will be at midnight.

Comstock saloons celebrate New Year's Eve


There will be music all over Sun Mountain on New Year's Eve this year.


The Bucket of Blood's party featuring David John and the Comstock Cowboys is sold out, but there will be party and favors at many other Virginia City watering holes.


The Delta Saloon will feature the popular music of Doug and Sundee, whose guitar, keyboard and vocals will fill the casino with pop music favorites.


Sergeant-Major's Silver Dollar Saloon will feature the San Francisco sound of the Fillmore Zone. The Washoe Club will have Blue Haven at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with party favors and celebrations.

RTC offers free ride-home service on New Year's Eve


In an effort to curb drinking and driving, RTC in Washoe County is offering free service on 17 of its most popular routes from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. New Year's Eve.


This service is only available within the Reno area. Call 348-RIDE.
