Natives and Newcomers will have their regular meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carson City Nugget. The guest speaker will be Mr. Carl Snyder, speaking on fire prevention in the home.
Cost is $14.50 for lunch. The public is invited to attend.

Spiritual Living Center hosts healing music
The Spiritual Living Center is hosting a night of the Mount Shasta Celtistani transformation healing music by musicians Anton Mizreak, Michael Mandrell, and Kim Lorene. They will play at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Spiritual Living Center, 675 Fairview Dr. No. 218. There is no admission charge but donations are accepted.

Proscenium Players Inc. call for directors
Proscenium Players Inc. is accepting proposals from prospective directors for productions for our 2006-07 Season until March 17. Experienced directors or those who have wanted to try directing are encouraged to select a play and submit a proposal. The company will provide funding for the production, including sets, costumes, theater rental and advertising.

Eagles and Agriculture Weekend starts Feb. 24
The Carson Valley Eagles and Agriculture Weekend will start with a reception at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Carson Valley Inn. This event will kick off the weekend which includes a tour of the local area ranches, photography workshops, raft and canoe trips, bird watching, a photography contest, and several other events.
All proceeds benefit future Eagles and Agriculture Tour events.

Silver Springs senior center groundbreaking ceremony
Lyon County is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Silver Springs Senior and Community Center at noon on Feb. 16, at the future site located at 1050 Pyramid Street in Silver City.
Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 11:30 a.m. There will be a lunch served at 12:30 p.m.

USDA announces conservation sign-up
Sign-ups for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Security (CSP) Program will be held from Feb. 13 to March 31 for the South Fork Humboldt watershed.
To be eligible for CSP, most of a producers agricultural operation must fall within the boundaries of the selected watershed. To fill out a self-assessment to determine eligibility, or find out more about CSP, visit http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/csp.
