SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - Nicole Scott scored 12 of her game-high 27 points in the third quarter as Carson pulled away from South Tahoe for a 47-38 Sierra Divsion girls' basketball win Saturday afternoon.
The win helped the Senators (14-12, 10-2) solidify their hold on second place and the first-round regional tournament home game that goes with it.
Carson only led 16-15 at halftime against the Vikings (2-14, 1-11), but in the third period started moving the ball inside to Scott, who had a distinct height edge over the Vikings.
"We just didn't get the help defense over," said STHS coach Chris Holmes.
The 6-foot-2 Scott made the Vikings pay with 5-5 Courtney Blann left alone to defend the Carson star. Scott scored 12 of the Senators' 17 points as Carson gained control, 33-22.
Senior forward Sinead McSweeney added eight points for the Senators, while Katelyn Pakes led the Vikings with seven points.
