Bishop Gorman boys reinstated to postseason

The Bishop Gorman boys basketball team has been reinstated to the NIAA 4A playoffs, NevadaPrep.com reported on Tuesday.

A Las Vegas judge on Monday set aside the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association's ruling that excluded Gorman's boys basketball team from the upcoming state tournament. Gorman is the defending NIAA 4A state champion.

The same district court that on Jan. 5 granted Gorman transfer student Jonathan Tavernari an injunction prohibiting the NIAA from declaring him ineligible ruled that the NIAA acted improperly when it placed Gorman on probation last month.

NIAA executive director Jerry Hughes said that the organization will not challenge the decision andthat Gorman will be allowed to participate in the postseason.
