As expected the Washington Nationals gave 1999 Carson High graduate Darrell Rasner another one-year contract on Tuesday.
The contract is similar to the one-year deal that Rasner received before the 2005 season and assures him a spot on the 40-man roster. Rasner, a right-handed pitcher, will head to spring training in Florida on Feb. 15 where he will be given a shot at earning the No. 4 or No. 5 spot in the starting rotation.
Rasner was called up to the Nationals Big League team from Double A Harrisburg, Pa., last September and had a solid stint, posting a 3.68 earned run average.
