Sonoma State star Vince Inglima, a 2002 Carson High gradaute, has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. By being named to the First Team, Inglima will be considered for Academic All-American honors.
Inglima was the only NCAA Division II student-athlete on the five member College Division First Team. The candidates were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools.
The senior has a 3.71 grade point average in Computer Science and earned the prestigous Dr. Hal Charnofsky Award for academic excellence last year.
On the basketball court, Inglima is averaging a team-high 17.9 points per game and is shooting nearly 60 percent from the field. He is also one of the top three-point shooters in the nation, connecting at a 51.6 percent clip.
Sonoma State (14-6, 12-2) currently holds sole possession of first in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and is ranked. No. 3 in the Western region.
