A memorial service for Kevin K. Lehr, 26, a 20-year former resident of Minden, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Gardnerville. A celebration of life will follow the service at Genoa Lakes Golf Club in Genoa.
Mr. Lehr died Jan. 31, 2006, in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1979, in Santa Clara, Calif., to Steven K. Lehr and Robin Hill.
He graduated from Douglas High School in 1998, and continued his education at New Mexico State University on a football scholarship then transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.
In high school, he was an all-state and all-league most valuable player in football, setting several school rushing records. He also played basketball and made the Northern Nevada Finals as a sprinter in track. He was on the honor roll and voted homecoming king.
He was the senior VIP nightclub manager at the Wynn Las Vegas resort and served an internship at Mandalay Bay Properties.
He enjoyed snowboarding and athletics.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents BJ and Lucille Lalor and uncle Kevin J. Lalor.
Among his survivors are his father and stepmother, Steven Lehr and Sonja Lorntzen of Minden; mother of Carson City; sisters Amber Lehr and Jamie and Danielle Lorntzen all of Minden; brother, Ryan Pierce of Vancouver, Wash.; grandparents Carol and Kenneth Lehr and Inge and Gilbert Ferreira; three aunts; three uncles; and two cousins.
Inurnment will take place in Los Gatos, Calif.
