The Carson Outlaw Karters took to the track in Red Bluff last Saturday night for the next to last race in the winter series.

The story of the night was the double-duty run of young Cameron Millard, who had his first outing in an Open Intermediate kart, substituting for Kayla Thain, as well as running his 125cc Intermediate division machine. He qualified 19th in the Intermediate division, took fifth in his heat, and ran 7th in the B main. He performed better in the Open Intermediate, qualifying 15th, scoring a heat race victory, and falling to 12th in the A main after some mid-race problems.

Also running the Open Intermediate were Daniel Thorson and Mackena Bell. Thorson had the best qualifying run in 10th, but after taking fourth in the heat race was unable to transfer out of the B main, finishing 7th in that event. Bell had the best A main finish in third after winning her heat following a qualifying run in 14th.

Only one Carson country karter contested the Open division. Chris Rytting ran sixth in the D main after taking an eighth-place heat race finish and qualifying 39th.

As usual the Box Stock division was the most heavily entered, with five local racers. All but one made it to the A main, an excellent aggregate showing. Kellcy Bell came out of the night still leading in points after taking third in the A main, third in her heat, and third in the trophy dash. Her string of thirds was broken only by a fourth-place qualifying effort.

Tanner Thorson finished fourth in the A main and fourth in his heat after qualifying 14th. Mason Millard qualified 13th, took a fourth in his heat, and finished 11th in the A main. Zachary Heinz made his first A main in a couple of races, finishing 16th. He had a good run in his heat race, finishing third, and qualified ninth. Twenty-first qualifier Keith Combs came up with eighth in his heat and seventh in the B main, failing to qualify for the feature.

Neither of the two Beginner Box Carson kids made the A main. Samantha Schultz took seventh in the B main, fourth in her heat, and 16th in the qualifying runs. Korey Combs qualified ninth, finished fifth in his heat, but his sixth place in the C main wasn't enough for a transfer spot to the B main.

This coming Saturday is the season finale for the Red Bluff winter series. Only Kellcy Bell is in contention for a division championship among the Carson karters, with a narrow two-point lead in the Box Stock division.
