A memorial service for Josie A. Graham, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Gall.

Mrs. Graham died Jan. 4, 2006. She was born on March 17, 1935, to John and Caroline Aufdermaur.

She grew up one of 10 children on a dairy farm in Lovelock. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Pershing County High School and was awarded a four-year Harold's Club scholarship.

Upon graduating with a teaching degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, Mrs. Graham taught at Bishop Gorman High School, Churchill County High School, Pershing County High School, Stewart Indian High School and Douglas High School. She retired from Douglas High in 1994.

Mrs. Graham coached the Douglas Dolfin Swim Team, as well as several school sports including volleyball, softball and the Girls' Athletic Association. She participated in the Minden Fortnightly Club and the Republican Central Committee. She was a Douglas County commissioner and was on the county Parks and Recreation Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George and her parents.

Among her survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Patti and Steve Speer, Coco and Don Bland, and Suzi and JoJo Townsell; son, Mike Graham; six grandchildren; and siblings Caroline, Annie, Jane, Katie, John, Virginia and Carl.

Donations be made to the Douglas High School Boosters, in care of Douglas High. Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
