Chase ends in felony charges

A Dayton man was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a chase in which he allegedly swerved at a patrol car.

Mark Duncan, 25, a loan broker, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, eluding police and reckless driving.

According to the arrest report, a deputy spotted a vehicle speeding south on Graves Lane. When the officer tried to stop the vehicle near the roundabout, it continued west on East Fifth Street and increased its speed. The deputy reported he lost sight of the vehicle when it turned into the Winner's Corner parking lot at Saliman Road.

A short time later, according to the report, another deputy saw a vehicle speeding through the Lowe's Home Improvement parking lot. The vehicle also failed to yield to the second deputy.

As two patrol vehicles headed toward the vehicle on Fairview Drive, the driver allegedly drove into the path of one, causing the deputy to swerve to avoid a collision. The chase continued, in excess of 60 mph, south on Saliman and onto Koontz Lane. Near the intersection of Lander and Tuscarora drives, the driver allegedly jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.

Duncan was allegedly found hiding behind a garbage can in a yard on Lander Drive, where he was taken into custody.

He is being held on $20,000 bail.
