Thirteen local Outlaw Kart racers took to the track at Red Bluff last weekend, and brought home a pair of trophy dash wins and several high finishing positions in the mains.
Samantha Schultz won the Beginner Box division trophy dash after qualifying sixth. Unfortunately she missed a transfer spot from the B main to the A main. After a third place in her heat race she took 10th in the B main. Korey Combs bettered his 14th place qualifying effort with a fourth place in his heat and a seventh in the B main, but also failed to transfer to the A main.
Fully half a dozen Box Stock racers from the area were on hand, and five of the six made it to the A main. Kellcy Bell took the second trophy dash of the evening for our local racers after qualifying fifth. She took third in her heat race and fifth in the A main. Jennifer Purcell qualified eighth, but a fifth place heat race finish put her into the B main. She finished second in that race and went on to take 10th in the A main.
Mason Millard parlayed a heat race win into a ninth-place A main finish after qualifying 11th. Zachary Heinz took second in his heat and went on to finish 13th in the A main after a 14th place qualifying run. Tanner Thorson also took a heat race second after qualifying ninth, and finished 16th in the A main. Keith Combs qualified 21st, took ninth in his heat, and came home 11th in the B main.
Cameron Millard was the sole local entry in the Intermediate division for 125cc and 250cc karts. He qualified 16th, took fifth in his heat, and finished 11th in the B main.
In the Intermediate Open division Mackena Bell uncharacteristically had to work her way up through the B main with a third place finish to transfer to the A main, where she came home eighth. She qualified ninth and took a fifth in her heat. Daniel Thorson qualified 14th, then ran fifth in both his heat race and the B main, just missing that last transfer spot to the A main.
Chris Rytting qualified 40th out of 50 entries in the Open division, took a 9th in the heat race, and did not run the E main. Dave Sciarroni likewise sat out the E main after qualifying 44th and placing eighth in his heat.
With just four races remaining in the Red Bluff winter series, three Carson area Box Stock racers are in the top 10 in points: Kellcy Bell is in first place, Thorson sixth, Heinz eighth, and Mason Millard is only two points out of 10th.
