A memorial service for Edna D. Nielsen, 98, a 27-year resident of Carson City, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the First United Methodist Church in Carson City.
Mrs. Nielsen died Jan. 11, 2006 in Carson City. She was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Hinnerup, Denmark. She immigrated to America with her husband, Borge, and son, Peter, in 1950.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Carson City, Eastern Star, the Supreme Lodge of the Danish Sisterhood of America, and a volunteer at the Carson City Senior Center, where she was named Senior Volunteer of the Year.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter-in-law, Janet.
Among her survivors are her son; grandchildren Lori Tureson and husband Gabe, Eric Nielsen, Richard Nielsen and wife Ali, and very dear friend Kari Heintz.
Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
