SlotWorld's $8 million Daytona Casino completed the hiring of 100 employees for its new Dayton casino, which will open at noon on Jan. 27.

Daytona general manager Kevin Hogan said the 24-seat bar features Progressive Plus, which is multi-denomination tri-level Poker progressive, and various penny slots. In all, the 15,000-square-foot casino has 250 of the latest multi-denomination "ticket-in, ticket-out" games manufactured by IGT, Williams and Aristocrat.

Players will be able to transfer comps earned for food at Daytona and SlotWorld in Carson City from one casino to the other.

"Guests will enjoy hand-painted, 20-foot murals, a state-of-the-art sound system, eight wide-screen TVs on the floor, four wide-screen TVs at the bar and a video wall with surround sound in the cocktail lounge to view sporting events," Hogan said Monday.

The Grill restaurant will serve meats grilled on a six-foot charbroiler.

Daytona employees receive paid health benefits, matching 401K, paid vacations and meals.

"Judging from the enthusiasm during the employee training, we are confident we have the best staff in the area," said Mandy Roberts, human resource assistant.

The new casino co-anchors Dayton Delta LLC's commercial center surrounding Smith's. About 20 businesses will locate in Dayton Delta's commercial center. Several have opened, including Taco Bell and Jack in the Box.

Daytona will be the community's third casino. Its nearest competitors are the Depot Casino and the Red Hawk Sports Bar, both also located along Highway 50. Those two properties sold to Reno-based gaming company Sands Regent.

The SlotWorld company, which is owned by four Carson City residents, operates SlotWorld at 3879 Highway 50 East, SlotWorld's Cabaret, 324 E. Winnie Lane, and a smoke shop/casino in the Carson Mall.
