Snow complicates morning and evening commutes

Wednesday's snow storm caused several accidents in Washoe Valley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Around 6:05 a.m., there was a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 395 near Anderson Hill. Another rollover in the Pleasant Valley area of Highway 395 involved three cars and a rollover accident was also reported near East Lake Boulevard, said Trooper Eddie Bowers, public relations coordinator for the highway patrol.

"The causative factor in all of the accidents was speed too fast for conditions," Bowers said.

No injuries were reported in morning the accidents, he said.

Several single vehicle accidents were also reported Wednesday evening. An SUV went off the road on the east side of Spooner Summit and two vehicles at different times went off Highway 88 near Douglas High School.

Details on the evening accidents were not available.

"When driving in bad weather, it is imperative motorists slow down and allow more distance between them and the vehicle in front. Should something happen, a driver will have more time to respond to the ever-changing highway conditions. Lastly, always drive with a high visual horizon. If a driver looks farther down the road, hazards become apparent sooner," Bower said.
