Chuck Fulkerson will retire as executive director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services at the end of March.

He has headed the office since November 2000, overseeing construction of the Veterans Nursing Home in Boulder City and development of cemeteries in Fernley and Boulder City.

Gov. Kenny Guinn said he has also been a "strong advocate for increased benefits and funding for programs aimed at assisting our veterans."

Fulkerson, who served two tours in Vietnam, has been in the military since 1955 when he joined the reserves while a student at the University of Nevada. He retired from active duty in 1991.

"It has been a privilege to work alongside Chuck and I have appreciated his dedication to our veterans living in Nevada," Guinn said.
