The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court:


• Cheryl Veronica Gomes, 45, disabled of Carson City, was arrested at 3:51 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of West College Parkway on suspicion of felony probation violation and misdemeanor battery. No bail was set.


• James Russell Beattie, 40, a construction foreman, was arrested after turning himself in at 1:45 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for suspicion of felony embezzlement. Bail was set at $10,000.


The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded:


• A 17-year-old boy was detained for shoplifting at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3200 block of Market Street.


• A 9 mm Ruger was taken from a vehicle at 1:47 a.m. Friday in the 3700 block of North Carson Street.


• An abandoned vehicle with California license plates was reported in the 800 block of East Robinson Street at 7:43 a.m. Friday.


• A break-in at the Carson City Senior Citizens thrift store was reported at 8:35 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Beverly Drive. Heavy property damage was reported.


• An abandoned vehicle was reported to have been rolled over by a tractor and demolished at 9:23 a.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Market Street.


• An abandoned vehicle was reported in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue at 9:39 a.m. Friday.




Storey County


The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded:


• A Mound House resident reported her white poodle/Chihuahua mix with long hair and no collar was missing at 9:19 a.m. Thursday. Dog in custody at the Virginia City dog pound was picked up by its owner.


• A certificate of vaccination with a rabies tag was found Thursday in the 2000 block of Empire Road in the Virginia Highlands.


• Warning issued for a traffic stop on C Street at 3:57 p.m. on Thursday.


• An arrest was made following a traffic stop at 4:23 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office on C Street.


• The fire department responded to a traffic accident of a vehicle in the ditch just before the "Y" in Silver City at 9 p.m.
