Investigators are looking for a bat-wielding bandit who robbed a Carson City convenience store Friday morning.
According to Detective Cate Summers, about 7:20 a.m. the clerk at Short Stop Market on North Carson Street was alone in the store stocking a liquor shelf when a hooded man carrying a bat walked in the front door and grabbed her.
The startled woman tried to get away from the man, but he chased her behind the counter. There he threatened to strike her with the bat if she didn't empty the safe.
Before leaving he forced the woman to lie on the ground behind the register. The entire assault was captured on videotape.
Summers said the suspect is believed to be a white man, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing about 165 pounds. He was wearing faded black or blue jeans, faded black shoes, a black ski mask and a black hooded sweatshirt with a hole in the seam of the right back shoulder.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Carson City Sheriff's Department at 887-2020 ext. 1400.
