(Staff reports) - Four drunken driving arrests were made during DUI checkpoints on Pyramid Highway in Reno this past weekend.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen, road blocks were conducted from 6-11 p.m. on State Route 445 near Egyptian Drive.
On Saturday, 843 vehicles passed through the roadblock, with 13 drivers directed to the secondary screening area resulting in one arrest for DUI.
On Sunday, 975 vehicles passed through, with 13 drivers directed to the secondary screening area, resulting in three DUI arrests.
The secondary screening area is where motorists, who may have had an odor of alcohol, or alcohol was detected during the initial contact, were directed to complete a series of field sobriety tests.
Allen said the road blocks were funded by a grant from the Northern Nevada DUI Task Force.
