A memorial Mass for Juan Jose Leonis, 58, a Gardnerville resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
Mr. Leonis died July 2, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1948, in Donamaria, Spain, to Juan and Damasa Leonis.
He married Michelle Oxoby on Oct. 2, 1982, in Gardnerville.
He immigrated to the United States in October 1967.
He owned and operated a gardening service for 35 years.
He enjoyed playing the traditional Basque card game Mus and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Paquita Lazcano of Spain.
Among his survivors are his wife; daughters Damasa and Margarita Leonis, both of Gardnerville; daughter Marisol Leonis; son, Juan Mitchel Leonis of Gardnerville; brothers Miguel Leonis of Elko and Domingo and Agustin Leonis of Spain; sister, Serapia Leonis of Spain; granddaughter, Ava Mullen; and numerous extended-family members.
Memorial contribution may be made in his name to a charity of choice.
