Some of the lucky persons who are going hunting this fall in Nevada

Several weeks ago, while idly browsing through the list of names of hunters who were successful in drawing big game tags for the upcoming Fall hunts in Nevada, I came up with an intriguing idea.

I thought that, in as such as that list of names is public information, it might be interesting to randomly select some of the successful tag holders from this general area and provide them for your information.

So, here is at least one last name for every letter of the alphabet of 2006 tag winners.

If your name is listed, it's the luck of my random selection process. If your name is not listed, it is also the luck of my random selection. Sorry about that!

Here are my choices of A to Z:

There they are: A group of randomly selected hunters who were successful in the computerized drawings for Nevada big game tags. Well done to every one of them and best wishes for a successful hunt.

Finally: If you, too, are curious about who was successful or unsuccessful in those drawings, go to the Internet website www.huntnevada.com.

At that www.huntnevada.com home page under the title "2006 Main Draw," you can click on a choice of "Bonus Point Only," "Withdrawn," "Successful," "Unsuccessful" or "Rejected," then browse to your heart's content.

I did and it was very informative!

Especially the long list of would-be hunters who ended up in the "Unsuccessful" category.

Many, many of them applied for all kinds of different big game hunts and were totally unsuccessful in drawing any tags.

Geez, and I thought that I had bad luck in raffles.

Bet your favorite pigeon he can't tell you how I did in the drawings.

If he grins and says, "Don was successful in drawing a rifle bull elk tag but struck out on the other tags," he could be one of my fishing or hunting partners.
