Even though they didn't have umpires, the Carson Cardinals and the Sierra Spartans decided to play six innings on Tuesday at Ron McNutt Field.

The Cardinals scored four runs in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead, but the Spartans answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-5 lead. Carson answered with four runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 12-8 lead before the Spartans' game-winning rally.
Brooks Greenlee had two hits, including a double, Nick Smallman doubled twice, David Eller hit a two-run double, Tony Fagan doubled, Kyle Mandoki had two hits, Bryt Lewis doubled and Markus Adams and Matt Rutledge each added a hit for Carson. The Cardinals are scheduled to play again on Thursday in the Joe DiMaggio State Tournament.
