Four artists teach classes at art center
At St. Mary's Art Center, Ron Arthaud will offer two workshops Wednesday through Aug. 16 in plein air oil painting.
Nolan Preece will teach a nontoxic intaglio class for beginners and advanced students Wednesday through Aug. 16. Both traditional and cutting edge nontoxic techniques will be demonstrated.
Steve LeWinter will teach "Printmaking with Water-soluble Inks." His class Aug. 8-12 will utilize photo polymer-coated plates which are light sensitive and develop with water. Soluble inks and an etching press will be used to print from the plates, eliminating many of the toxic properties associated with traditional printmaking and yielding unique images without acids. This class can be taken alone or added onto Preece's class for a two-week etching program.
Suzanne Cody Adams will offer "Plant Portraits in Color Pencils" Aug.15-17. The class will cover botanical illustration history and what it takes to create an accurate illustration. Colored pencils are a transparent medium allowing unusual blending of colors.
