Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

What I do: We specialize in children and family portraits. We're celebrating our fifth year in business with new price lists, new camera equipment and printers. We're having sales next Saturday and Sunday to celebrate our anniversary. We'll have a bounce house and food.

What we like about operating a business in Carson City: Doing business in Carson City has been a pleasure. This is a close-knit community with great residents. We have had the opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people and watch their families grow through the camera lens. We have also been able to give back to the community through donations and volunteer work.

Business accomplishments: Our biggest accomplishment has been providing our customers with quality images that capture and preserve the love, affection and expressions that are uniquely theirs. We've been able to do this through our creativeness as well as our ability to stay on the cutting edge of technology.

Family: This is a family-owned business. I own the business with Don and Toni Langson, and we relate to our customers. With children and grandchildren of our own, we know first hand the type of portraits that are important to our customers. We've also been able to involve the children. Everyone contributes to the operations at Little People Portraits.

Inspiration: Our biggest inspiration has come from our customers. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a parent, grandparent or family member viewing their portraits and the expression on their faces when they see the images captured.

Tips for parents bringing children to get portraits: The most important tip we'd like to give parents is "Don't wait!" Chronicle your child's life through images. Photographs are mighty communicators about the people, places and things that shape our lives. Studies have shown that images of the family evoke a strong sense of self for children.
