A Carson City man remained in custody Tuesday, accused of fondling himself in public in front of a store clerk.

Ricky Dean Scheffelman, 44, a construction worker, was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Monday on suspicion of felony open and gross lewdness, gross misdemeanor indecent exposure and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, Scheffelman allegedly entered the Naughty and Nice retail store in 1500 block of Fairview Drive just before 2 p.m. on Saturday. While in the adult video section of the store he allegedly pleasured himself, then flashed the clerk, the report states.

Scheffelman, a Tier 1 registered sex offender, was also arrested in 2005 on a charge of open and gross lewdness.

In that instance a tenant in a nearby apartment complex noticed him sitting in his vehicle for hours. When a deputy went to talk to him, Scheffelman was touching himself, according to police records.

He was sentenced in August 2005 of gross misdemeanor indecent or obscene exposure and sentenced to 90 days in jail. Scheffelman also served a stint in prison on a drug charge and was released in April 2005.
