Government incompetence costs taxpayers
I am glad to see that Danny Thompson of the AFL-CIO is watching out for the bureaucrats here in Nevada! Imagine, if TASC had been in place in 1991 we'd have 3,740 less teachers, no Medicaid or health care for children and we'd have to release more than 1,300 prisoners, lay off 458 correctional officers and oh my goodness, cut the Gaming Control Board by 80 per cent!
Mr. Thompson continues by saying this proposal is insane.
Well, insanity is in the eye of the beholder. It seems to me that teachers have their hands tied by the bureaucrats and the unions. Just look at the dismal ranking of Nevada's education system. As for Medicaid and children's health issues, I have an idea! How about people taking personal responsibility for their own? I pay for my family and believe me it's not cheap. Now, I have no problem with assisting those that are truly in need, may God bless them all. But, what about the cheaters, the fraud and corruption?
What about the 25 million government workers, officials and others all over the country sucking at the taxpayer teat? What about the largest prison population in the world filled with non-violent offenders? What about the $25 billion the federal government can't account for in 2003? Who knows how much is missing from all the states, cities, towns and counties? How about the poor slops that go to work every day and pay for all this government incompetence?
Yes Mr. Thompson, it's insane. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Grieving family was victimized by thief
Yesterday, June 28, my family attended the service of a beloved man, Papa Tom Cross. During the services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a member of our family had their car broken into and all their personal belongings taken. This couple flew in from Chicago to grieve for the loss of a loved one, now they are having trouble getting back home to their children.
This family has suffered enough. Is there no place left that is safe or sacred? What kind of person would steal from a church parking lot during a service?
Nevada has been home to my family for many generations. It is shocking to discover that we now live among people who have no remorse, no regrets and no conscience. There will be no discipline for these thieves, and that is why we are forced to live among people who know that there are no longer consequences for your actions. LOCK YOUR DOORS.

Spooner Drive repairs are a mess
What a mess these so-called repairmen are making of Spooner Drive! When they worked on the house next door to mine, they never asked about my property or the fact that we had already installed a French drain right where they were digging with a back hoe! My son tried to talk to the job foreman about this and he and the other workers were very rude to him. My son had to call me while I was on vacation so I could talk to the foreman about this.
Now they are leaving port-a-potties on the street in front of houses, mud and stagnant smelly water in front of all of the houses and have done nothing to clean up after themselves after they work in an area. I am glad I did not hire these people to do the drainage work on my property. I will be glad when they are gone.
