The Carson Cardinals couldn't overcome three errors that led to five unearned runs in a 6-2 loss to the Reno Muckdogs on Tuesday at Ron McNutt Field.
Nick Smallman allowed all six runs, but just one of them were earned in 5.2 innings. Matt Rutledge came on in relief and retired all four batters he faced.
Carson scored both of its runs in the sixth. Brooks Greenlee and Tony Fagan both singled, then David Leid was hit by a pitch and Rob Valerius walked to force in a run. Bryt Lewis followed with an RBI single to make it 6-2.
Greenlee and Lewis each had two hits and Kyle Stone added a hit for the Cardinals, who next play the Reno Knights at 5:30 pm. Thursday at Reno High.
Carson High to hold fall sports meeting
Carson High will hold its information meeting for the upcoming fall sports season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 at Morse Burley Gym.
All incoming freshmen through seniors who plan to participate in a fall sport and their parents are encouraged to attend. Fall sports offered are football, girls volleyball, girls golf, boys and girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls soccer and cheerleading.
After the general meeting, meetings for each team will be held in which coaches will be available to answer questions. Athletic packets and information on physicals will also be available.
Junior tennis lessons offered
The Carson Tennis Club will again present junior lessons this summer. Session one will be held from June 19-29, session II will be held from July 3-14 and session III will be held from July 17-27.
Little pros will be held from 8:30-9 a.m., beginners will be held from 9-10, intermediate will be held from 10-11 and advanced intermediate will be held from 11 a.m.-noon.
Cost per session for little pros (ages 4-5) is $50. Cost for all other ages 6-16 is $65. Two-week seesions for four days a week will be held.
Lessons will be held at the Centennial Park Tennis Complex. Diane Baker-Roberts and staff will be the instructors. The maximum size for each class is 24 players.
Signups can be done by phone or participants can wait until the first day of each session. On the first day of each session, participants need to sign up one hour in advance.

Final signups set for Carson CityAYSO
Final signups for Carson City's American Youth Soccer Organization's upcoming fall season will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10 at Edmonds Park.
Boys and girls ages 4 1/2 to 18 as of July 31 are eligible. Cost is $47 per player and $42 per each additional player in a family.
Registration can also be done on line at www.aysocarsoncity.org. Players who didn't play last fall need a birtch certificate.
