A memorial service for Russell McOmber, 74, a 37-year Reno resident, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mamie Towles Elementary School, 2800 Kings Row in Reno.
Mr. McOmber died June 6, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born March 4, 1932, in Glendale, Calif., to Herbert McOmber and Adelaide Lippitt.
He was a retired school administrator.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
He belonged to the Reno Elks Club, the Ely Elks Club, was former president of the State School Superintendents Association, and was a life member of the Nevada PTA.
He enjoyed camping, sporting events, fishing and his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister Janice McOmber.
Among his survivors are his wife, Karen McOmber; sons Mark and John McOmber; daughters Karen Thompson, Marilee Dechart and Mikki Merkouris; stepchildren Tracy Hodge and Mikki Merkouris and John Merkouris; and brother Richard McOmber.
Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmonton, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
