University of Nevada junior forward Nick Fazekas will announce today at a 3 p.m. press conference whether he will return to school for his senior season or keep his name in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Fazekas, the two-time Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, is one of 94 players who applied for early entry into the draft. Fazekas didn't hire an agent, which means that he has until June 18 to pull out of the draft.
According to a story published in the the Rocky Mountain News, Fazekas' father, Joe, said his son was probably going to return to Nevada.
Fazekas has had a couple of workouts for NBA teams, including one with the Sacramento Kings. Nevada coach Mark Fox said those workouts went well.
If Fazekas opts to return to Nevada, the Wolf Pack would have to be favored to win the WAC title for the fourth straight season. The Pack returns Marcelus Kemp, Kyle Shiloh, Lyndale Burleson, David Ellis, Demarshay Johnson and Ramon Sessions, all of whom saw significant action. Johnson was recently declared academically ineligible for the fall semester. He will, however, be allowed to work out with the team.
The Pack also has the services of Richie Phillips, who was a non-qualifier academically.
