Nila Johnson, 82, a two-year resident of Yucaipa, Calif., died June 21, 2006, at her home.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 19, 1924, in Gooding, Idaho, to Cecil Carmichael and Willie Demires.
Before moving to Yucaipa, Mrs. Johnson lived in Silver Springs.
She retired from Patton State Hospital in 1983, then went to work for the Nevada Automotive Test Center in Carson City from 1983 to 2003.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, ceramics and gardening.
She was preceded in death by daughter Dorothea Joyce and grandchildren Tammy and Timothy.
Among her survivors are sons John Smith of Calimesa, Calif., Willie Smith of Oalagah, Okla., Jimmie Smith of Yucaipa, Eldon Spencer of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Rose Mortuary in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
