For all those guys looking for something a little different to plan for their wife or girlfriend, I have a great event.
I'm having no problem talking my boyfriend into taking me, if for no other reason than the venue at beautiful Lake Tahoe.
As he would say, it's an evening of velvet bloomers and beards and great wine, and the company is outstanding.
The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival has been going on for 34 years, and just keeps getting better. It is at Sand Harbor State Park in Incline Village.
Patrons may bring their own chairs, towels or blankets, or rent chairs on site. Early and general tickets offer access to the open seating in the sandy bowl; arrive early to guarantee your choice of view. But there are no bad seats!

If you like golf, volunteer for the annual PGA Tour for the eighth annual Reno Tahoe Open at Reno's beautiful Montreux Golf and Country Club Aug. 21-27.
Watch the best of the best golfers compete for a $3 million purse. My good friend and local girl Lindey Oxoby, who works at Montreux, says, "It is an event you must see if you appreciate world-class golf."

I am a big fan of fresh veggies and fruits, and love strolling through a farmers market.
For a change of pace from the Carson City market, I headed south to the Lampe Park farmers market. I was astounded at the selection of succulent berries and tasty veggies.
If you want a quick change of venue and start down the path to a healthier life, hit it every Wednesday.
