Crosstumblers Gymnastics of Carson City did extremely well at the recent Wine Country Classic hosted by Rohnert Park, Calif., Gymnastics.

In the boys' competition, 7-year-old Ryan Walker earned his first ever gold medal by scoring a 9.0 on the high bar.

"We always knew what he could do, because he easily does near perfect routines in practice," explained coach and father, Jim Walker. "We're pleased with the way he focused at this competition and pulled everything together. Hopefully, being on the first place stand will inspire him on all of the other events as well."

Walker also placed fifth on rings (8.7), sixth on pommel horse (7.8), and seventh in the all-around.

In the girls' competition, Level 4 gymnast Madison Foley, continued to make her mark in her first year of competing, with an all around score of 35.10.

She also took the silver medal on vault with an outstanding score of 9.35, fifth on uneven bars (8.55) and balance beam (8.6), and sixth on floor exercise (8.6).

Level 6 gymnast Michelle McDonald also did well placing sixth in the all-around and fifth on beam (8.3) and floor (8.15).

10 year old, Gina Gallo competed in the Level 7 division and placed third in the all- around in her age group. She also brought home the silver medal for her high kicking floor routine set to the music "Can Can" and a bronze medal on vault.

The boys are done competing for the year and will spend the next nine months working on more difficult skills in order to move to the next level. The girls will compete again on Saturday in Reno in their last USA Gymnastics sanctioned competition of the season. Gallo, McDonald, and Foley will then join the rest of the Crosstumblers girls' team as they begin preparing for the USAIGC optional competitions which begin in April.
