(Staff report) Nevada's insurance commissioner has ordered two insurance companies to pay a total of $85,000 in administrative fines for violating unfair trade practices and doing business without authorization in the state of Nevada.
Alice Molasky-Arman said H.G. Wilson Group owns both the Wilson Pacific Insurance Co. and Landmark American Insurance Co. She said unlicensed insurers can't evade Nevada statutes by setting up a business in Nevada but soliciting and selling unauthorized insurance products in another state.
In addition, she ordered Cameron Jennings, president of one of the companies and vice president of the other, to pay a $35,000 fine. She said his case is being referred to the attorney general for possible criminal prosecution.
