Saturday's baseball game at Peccole Park between the Nevada Wolf Pack and the University of Portland was suspended due to snow. The game will be resumed at noon today with the regularly scheduled final game of the three-game series set to begin after the conclusion of Saturday's game.
The Pilots were leading 6-3 when play was stopped in the bottom of the fourth inning with one out and one man on.
The Wolf Pack scored first in the bottom of the first inning with four consecutive singles.
Shortstop David Ciarlo led off with an infield single and moved to second on Trevor O' Sullivan's grounder through the hole at second. Dayton's Matt Bowman followed with a sharply hit liner to right-center field that scored Ciarlo. O'Sullivan and Bowman successfully pulled off a double steal with Nevada's big hitting Sean Scobee at the plate. Scobee, who hit three bombs in Friday's game, collected O'Sullivan on a hard hit ground ball back up the middle. Baker Krukow then tapped a weak grounder to first, allowing Bowman to score from third.
Portland brought a run across in the second when Adam Kerr doubled to lead off the inning. Kerr moved to third on a ground ball to the second baseman and scored on a long fly to center field.
The Pilots broke the game open in the top of the fourth as the snow started to fall. Four singles, an error and a two-run home run scored five runs for Portland, who came alive in the difficult conditions.
