William Barrington Niebur, 81, a three-year resident of Gardnerville, died March 4, 2006. He was born to Oct. 23, 1924, in Wheeling, W.V., to William J. and Mary Niebur.
He married Donna C. Kingston on Feb. 2, 1952.
Before moving to Gardnerville, Niebur lived in Stateline.
He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley.
He served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer in Europe during World War II. He later became a probation and parole agent in Alameda County, Calif. He retired as a California Department of Corrections peace officer.
Among his survivors are his wife; brother, Robert Niebur of Phoenix; daughters Karen T. Groom of Oakley, Calif., Jocelyn D. Thompson of Hollywood, Calif., and Shannon P. Gerard of Oakley; son, Christopher S. Niebur of West Point, Calif.; and seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
