Circus Circus has grand opening

Circus Circus Reno has changed its casino floor, with The Poker Room moved to a location near the Virginia Street entrance, and invites all to join a grand opening starting Friday through March 26.

During the grand opening, everyone who plays will receive a coupon, good for use any time during the month of April valid for $10 in free chips with a $30 buy-in and one hour of tracked play. The casino will serve free sandwiches every night of the opening starting at 7 p.m.

Reno pianist to offer benefit recital

Allan Fuller, one of the area's best-known pianists, will present a recital benefiting the Reno Chamber Orchestra on April 3 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 209 West First St. in Reno.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Reno Chamber Orchestra at (775) 348-9413. Tickets will also be available at the door. Prices are $20 general admission and seniors, and $10 for students.

Fuller's recital will feature a selection of piano classics to include Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin.

Click Five plays at Reno Hilton

The Boston-based quintet The Click Five, which has stormed onto the music scene in less than two years, will play the Reno Hilton Theater Friday. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Tickets to The Click Five's performance are on sale now for $19.25 general admission or $22 the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased at the Reno Hilton Ticket Office, by calling (775) 789-2285 or through any Ticketmaster outlet.

Hilton to present two rocker bands

Indie pop band Death Cab for Cutie along with Franz Ferdinand crank up the bass on March 24 in the Hilton Pavilion at 8 p.m.

Tickets to the show are $30 general admission and can be purchased by visiting the Reno Hilton Ticket Office, by calling (775) 789-2285 or through any Ticketmaster outlet.

Death Cab for Cutie is made up of band members Ben Gibbard on vocals, guitar, organ and piano, Chris Walla on guitar, organ and electric piano, Nicholas Harmer on bass and Michael Schorr on drums.

Death Cab for Cutie will be sharing the stage with rock quartet Franz Ferdinand, named after the Austro-Hungarian archduke whose murder sparked World War I.

Toots Hibbert coming to Caesars Tahoe

Toots Hibbert, one of the great voices of Jamaica, plays Caesars in Stateline April 1 at 9.m. Family Dance nightat Brewery

Pioneer Family Dance at the Brewery Arts Center presents guest caller Mavis McGaugh Saturday March 25 from 7-10 p.m. in the ballroom at 449 W. King St.

New dancers will be instructed in the basics at 7 p.m., and each dance is walked through before music is played by the local Irish band Wild Sage.

Adults are $8 and kids (6-16) are free with an adult or $3 without.

Brewery to host McCourts' comedy

In the only West Coast showing this year of a smash off-Broadway hit, the Brewery Arts Center presents "A Couple of Blaguards," written by Frank McCourt and his brother Malachy.

Show dates are March 24, 25, 31 and April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the BAC Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Tickets are $22 general admission and $18 BAC members, seniors and students.

Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "Angela's Ashes," is a literary phenomenon of the '90s. On stage, "A Couple of Blaguards" is a bubbling stew of McCourt humor with dashes of poignancy to sharpen the flavor.
