Where can you find science at its best? At the St. Teresa's School Science Fair. This year the students were interviewed during judging by 12 professionals, many distinguished doctors from our local area. All had an interest in science and children. We were especially pleased that Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell joined us to help with the judging.
All students were required to do an experiment using the scientific method. Each entry was judged against a set of criteria used in the Reno Regional Science Fair. All participants received a participation ribbon. There are 12 winners who went to the Reno Regional Science Fair.
We are very pleased to announce the winners. In first place: Nicholas Goralka, Christopher Goralka and Gabrielle Doyle. Second place winners were: Katie Matuska, Kaitlin Lucky, April Shonnard and Michael Shonnard. In third place was: Kaitrin Wilde, Garrett Schaffer and Brendan Boyle. Fourth place/honorable mention went to: Saraphine Zane, Alex Robotham, Fiona McElhany, Mitchell Mile and Jonathan Loomis.
This year's science fair was coordinated by Vicki Zion and Nick Covert, teachers at the school. They were helped by volunteers from the school and community to make it a success.
