Mile High Jazz Band concert Tuesday
Enjoy the big-band sound of the Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Sheryl Adams Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m. at Comma Coffee.
To celebrate five years of MHJB monthly performances at Comma Coffee, an anniversary cake will be sliced.
General admission is $5 at the door; $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association; and free for age 18 and under. Swing-dance instruction, 6 -7:30 p.m. is $5 additional.
The Mile High Jazz Band includes four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, keyboard, bass, and drums. The band will play about 20 tunes in the style of Basie, Ellington, and more contemporary arrangers. The performance is funded in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Call June Joplin at 883-2662.
High school actors present 'Robin Hood'
Carson Performing Arts at Carson High school presents this year's Fairytale Theatre presentation of "Robin Hood" Friday April 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. There will also be special showings for schools, preschools and daycare April 12-13 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m..
"Robin Hood" brings all the characters for adventures in Sherwood Forest as they strive for justice for all. This production is directed by Jon Josten.
Ticket prices for evening show is $3 for children/SBC, $5 for general admission. Tickets will be available at the door. Ticket prices for the daytime shows is $2 for pre-booked groups. Call 887-0438 to book a school group.
Brewery to host classical guitarist
The Brewery Arts Center and Lake Tahoe Classical Guitar Society present the Classical Guitarists of Northern Nevada with special guest Michael Chapdelaine. The concert is April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Tickets are $15 general, and $12 BAC members, seniors, and students.
