Longtime Incline resident Shelly Conser, 55, was found dead on the walkway outside her High Sierra condominium near the intersection of Southwood Boulevard and Tanager Way early morning Thursday.
Conser, described by close friends as "a sweet wonderful woman," lived in Incline for more than 30 years.
As of Thursday afternoon no report had been issued by the Washoe County Coroner's office regarding the circumstances of her death.
Sheriff's deputies could not comment whether there was foul play at the scene or if the death was from natural causes. Four detectives along with forensics experts blocked off the condominium area where Conser was found.
Conser ran a cleaning business and was a familiar face in many businesses and restaurants around town, including 7-Eleven where she had worked on and off for 20 years.
"She was a good person, everyone seemed to like her," said Ben Hedges, owner of Grumpy's, one of the restaurants that employed Conser.
Hedges' son, Michael, who lived with Conser in the High Sierra complex found her outside their apartment early Thursday and called 911.
Friends and family of Conser's, congregated at Billy's bar (where Conser was currently working) and in Grumpy's Thursday afternoon to reflect on her life.
"I found out around noon," said Cassie Markman, a friend of Conser for more than two decades, as she sat among friends at Billy's pub. "Everybody is still in shock. We're just trying to deal with it in our own way.
"She had the biggest, sweetest heart. She was always doing things for other people."
Conser's two children, Aimee Hendrix, of Las Vegas, and Michael Conser, of Clear Lake, were on their way to Incline after learning of their mother's death.
